Arc Gouging Equipment
"Gouging" is a technique that liquefies metal in a narrow groove and then removes it using compressed air. Gouging products are often used in joint preparation prior to a welding process. Numerous other applications exist for these gouging systems, such as removal of defective welds, removal of trim in foundries and repair of track, switches and freight cars in the railroad industry. The air carbon-arc process (CAC-A) remove metal physically, not chemically (as in oxy-fuel cutting - OFC). Gouging or cutting occurs when the intense heat of the arc between the carbon electrode and the workpiece melts part of the workpiece. Meanwhile, air passes through the arc quickly enough to blow the molten material away.

Argon (Ar) is a noble gas that comprises 0.93 percent of the earth's atmosphere. (Noble gases are a group of rare gases that include argon, helium, krypton, neon, xenon and sometimes radon. They exhibit great stability and extremely low reaction rates. Also called inert gases.)
Argon is colorless, odorless, tasteless, nontoxic, and forms no known chemical compounds. A specific gravity of 1.38 makes argon 25 percent heavier than air. Which makes argon an asphyxiation danger in low or confined areas.
Argon is used primarily for applications such as arc welding, analytic equipment, steel making, heat-treating, and electronics manufacturing.
